As you may have read from my CNC progress, I had started to use FreeCAD to create G-code in order to cut out the parts.

However I ran into some ‘learning curve’ troubles. Nothing insurmountable, but there has to be an easier way?

I started looking around and found a youtube channel that shows how to create model RC plane designs in CAD. Only the channel did not use FreeCAD but Fusion360. As it turns out, Fusion360 is also free for personal use. So I tried it out, and I have to say, this is a much more mature product than FreeCAD is.

After playing around a bit, I found that the amount of tutorials and a number of youtube channels support this product quite nicely. I do not want to degrade FreeCAD, especially not their community, but for a newbie like me, it is easier to gain traction with Fusion360.

So I made the switch.

In order to start with Fusion360, I am doing the following:

And then if you want to design model RC planes follow this channel: RC CAD-2-VR

That channel has an associated website: rccad2vr.com

So it might be a few days until the next post…
